Top 5 Signs Your Pool Needs a Service
Pools rarely fail overnight. They give you warning signs first, and catching them early is the difference between a routine service and a green pool or a dead pump.
The water is cloudy or turning green
Cloudiness usually means the water is out of balance or the filter is not keeping up. A green tinge means algae has taken hold. Both get worse quickly in warm weather.
Stinging eyes or a strong chlorine smell
That smell is not too much chlorine. It is usually chlorine that has been used up fighting contaminants, a sign the water needs testing and balancing.
The pump is noisy or the flow is weak
Screaming, grinding or rattling from the pump, or weak flow from the returns, can mean a blocked basket, a dirty filter or a pump on its way out. Catching it early can save the pump.
Stains, scale or a gritty feel on the surfaces
White crusty build up, stains or a rough feel on the walls point to water chemistry that has been out for a while. Left alone, scale also builds up inside your equipment.
Warning lights or a dropping water level
A chlorinator showing a low salt or check cell light, or a pool that loses water faster than evaporation explains, both need a look sooner rather than later.
